May 19 is officially May "Ray Day" and there's no better place to be than soaking up the rays on the beautiful Club at Ridgefields Golf Course. Nestled on the banks of the South Fork of the Holston River, LPGA Women Who Play members and guests will take in the view while maneuvering the Donald Ross designed rolling fairways with beautiful Bays Mountain in the backdrop. Then enjoy friends, fun, and comradery in 18 holes of stroke play golf with a special prize for the fewest putts during the round.

This event will be a fun joint event with the LPGA Women Who Play Tri-Cities Chapter.

If you're in the sun, you need a hat so bring your favorite golf or non-golf hat to show off before the round to compete for the Best Hat award.

The Midwest Regional Championship will be held at The Club Ridgefields course on July 28th for those who qualify at the Chapter Championship. This is an opportunity to practice on the course before the competition.

Did you know the month of May is named after Maia, the Greek goddess? In Greek mythology, she is the eldest of the 7 Pleiades and the mother of Hermes.

LEAGUES FOR 2018

NOTICE: Full information about the 2018 Greater Knoxville Chapter Leagues is posted on the leagues page. Select the LEAGUES link under Links of Interest above.

The Greater Knoxville Chapter of EWGA offers evening nine-hole golf leagues and an 18-hole league. Leagues play a different golf game each week to keep play fresh and interesting. Handicaps are used to create a fair match between players of different skill levels. For additional information about the Chapter Leagues, contact the league coordinator: leagues@ewgaknoxville.org

Announcing… The 2018 LPGA Women Who Play Championship


The 2018 Chapter Championship registration will open on May 7:

Please join us for the 19th annual LPGA Women Who Play Greater Knoxville Chapter Championship. For the first time we are playing the championship at a private country club (Oak Ridge Country Club). AND you can play ORCC without a member any time between now and the championship for the normal guest fee. Take advantage of this great opportunity.

The registration deadline and payment must be received by HQ. They Must have payment and registration in no later than Friday June 1st at Midnight.

 

Important Points and Some Changes in 2018:

  • Championship date June 16th with afternoon tee times / Rain date June 23rd
  • Registration will open May 7th at 6pm est.
  • Registration deadline June 1st
  • Registration and payment is all online. Be looking for emails and our local website.
  • First place low gross and low net winners and first and second place scramble teams have the ability to advance to regional competition in Kingsport TN in the Stroke Division.
  • You must have an established handicap prior to handicap validation by tournament committee
  • Competitors are required to have an equivalent of at least two 18 hole rounds posted to their handicap record prior to the published handicap revision date of June 1st.
  • You can participate in either the Stoke or Scramble competition
  • Flights for stroke play are determined by course handicaps below
    • Championship 0.0-10.0 (Old was 0.0-12.0)
    • First Flight 10.1-17.0  (Old was 12.1-19.0)
    • Second Flight 17.1-24.0 (Old was 19.1-25.0)
    • Third Flight 24.1-32.0 (Old was 25.1-32.0)
    • Fourth Flight 32.1-40.4 (Remains the same)
  • Flights for scramble teams are determined by course handicaps below
    • Championship Flight (+2): 0.0-10.0
    • First Flight (+1) 10.1-17.0
    • Second Flight (0) 1-24.0
    • Third Flight (-1) 24.1-32.0
    • Fourth Flight (-2) 1-40.4
  • Yardages
    • Championship Flight 5400-5700 yards, Slope 120-130
    • First-Fourth Flights 4900-5400 yards, Slope 115-125

Thursdays from 6-7pm. Golf skill of the moment with signature cocktail and music. Good for any level. Limited to 8 players. $20

May 17 - "Shipping and Chipping" (chipping and pitching)
May 31 - "Margaritas on the Moss" (putting)
June 14 - "Hot Drivers / Cold Beers" (Driving)
July 19 - "Short Shots" (wedges and short irons)
August 2 - "Merlot on the Moss" (putting)

Match Play Clinic: Date TBA 8:30 - 11:00 AM. Wee Course at Williams Creek. Classroom setting for difference between stroke play and match play. Fun nine holes on course in Dixie Cup format. Cost of golf with cart $16.  Clinic is Free.

    Registration for the 2018 Dixie Cup opens 2/15!

    We are proud to announce the 2018 Dixie Cup will be played on July 7 & 8, 2018 at the world-famous Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, NC. Golf, accommodations, and meals will be on-site at Pinehurst Resort, the packages are the most inclusive ever, and the resort amenities are unmatched!
